The Resourced Provision

The resourced provision consists of a suite of rooms on the ground floor of South Block. It consists of a large base room laid out following the approaches recommended within the principles of TEACCH. The base room is divided into 3 clear zones:

- A group teaching area

- Individual work areas

- Social/relaxation areas

The kitchen area is used for cooking and life skills lessons. We also have a small separate room which is used as a quiet room, and for 1:1 work. There are toilets and a shower room/changing room next to the base room.

The Base is used to support learning, be a safe place to which pupils can return to if they are feeling anxious or stressed and a safe haven at lunch and break times.

Pupils arrive by taxi from all over Hampshire. They come to the Base in the morning, we help them to sort out their books and equipment for the day and explain any changes to their timetable before they go to tutor group. They have individual lockers within the Base. Pupils stay until 4pm when the taxis take them home.

We communicate with parents and carers with a home-school folder, as well as by email and phone. In this way, we can help pupils with letters home, reply slips, payments for lunch cards, etc.

Admission to the Resource

Admission to the resource is controlled by the LEA. Currently all pupils have a statement of special education needs with a clear diagnosis of ASD. They should be able to access most areas of the curriculum (with support), and have a cognitive ability within the normal range for a mainstream school.
