In 2009 we built a sensory garden for the Base so we can sit outside in the summer and relax. There is a soothing water feature, benches to sit on, and some outside toys such as Jenga. We are also growing herbs and some vegetables for use in cooking. We have encouraged animal life by setting up a bug box and two bird boxes, one of which has a camera so that we can observe the birds. We have also grown a Buddleia to attract butterflies, and we have a miniature pond in a pot. The school cat sometimes comes to visit.

 

We continue to grow plants from seed, and have planted a small chamomile lawn. Our climbing plants started to grow up the trellis and along the overhead wires, making a colourfully scented outside space.
