Barrett Homes and Romsey Rotary Relay Marathon Marshalling Help

Dear Parents, on 12th May, our local Rotarian group expect to have about 150 teams of 10 with supporters at Broadlands for the day, competing in the Romsey Relay Marathon. They have come to the school, asking if we can help raise awareness of the event and whether any of our school community would be able to offer help as a Marshall for this event.  The gates open at 8.00am with the race starting at 10.00am and a children’s race at 15.00hrs with the Marshalls being withdrawn at about 15.30pm when that finishes. It is a private event with ticket only entry.  Marshalls duties: The Rotarians will arrange marshalling in 2/2.5 hour shifts from 8.00am until about 3.30pm. Volunteers for any shift are welcome and would be very gratefully accepted. Adults from both Romsey Rotary Clubs will be marshalling, plus others from other community groups eg. Scouts, Men’s Shed and they would particularly welcome others such as parents or team supporters who are willing to do a shift during the course of the day.  Marshalls will be organised into teams to cover car parking, track-side monitoring and entry and exit pass checking etc plus, the gazebo areas used by the teams of runners and finally track clearance and some site dismantling eg. ropes along the track.  Marshalls will be provided with a voucher for water, a burger or similar including veggie option from the BBQ and an ice cream. Site dismantling takes between 3.30 and 6.00pm so any additional help for that would be greatly appreciated.
