School Closure – partial
You will have received a letter from me this morning with an update in response to Government guidance on Coronavirus. You will also be aware that we receive daily updates from Public Health England and the Department of Education. I am emailing to confirm, following an emergency senior team meeting, that there will be some closures for year groups due to the current situation. We have seen an increase in staff absence for tomorrow. At the time of writing we have no confirmed cases of Coronavirus amongst staff or students, but many staff are absent due to Government advice on ‘at risk’ groups and self-isolation. Although we have been able to remain fully open so far this week, the timescales involved in this mean there is no prospect of improvement, we are likely to see a further increase in staff absence and supply teachers are in short supply. Therefore, I have taken the decision to implement a partial closure of the school from tomorrow and the remainder of the week based on current information.
The arrangements are as follows;
Wednesday 18th March – School closed to Year 10.
Thursday 19th March – School closed to Year 8
Friday 20th March – School closed to Year 9.
We will review the situation each morning and I will provide parents with a daily update. Thank you in anticipation of your support and please accept my apologies in advance for any inconvenience. Work is being prepared by teaching staff and will be submitted on your child’s google classroom. Please let us know if you have any difficulties accessing the work for any reason whatsoever. We are doing everything we can to prioritise the examination preparation for year 11 and unless otherwise directed to do so by the Government, we will remain open for this year group. We are also prioritising Year 7, to minimise any childcare needs, particularly for key workers who are parents in the National Health Service.
