Pupils from five schools gathered at The Romsey School this week for the regional round of this year’s Hampshire Literary Quiz. Teams of four pupils from Years 7, 8 and 9 competed in the quiz, which was run by Hampshire School Library Service. Mr McKavanagh, Head Teacher of The Romsey School was the question master and pupils showed their wide knowledge of books from early childhood favourites through popular teen fiction to the classics. After eight closely fought rounds Romsey were declared the winners with Thornden School taking second place. The Romsey team; Philip Gibbs, Edward Osborne, Sophie Lambert and Ellen Stewart were delighted to be presented with book tokens each and the Lit Quiz cup. Mr McKavanagh said he was extremely impressed with their range of book knowledge. They will now go forward to the county final in March at Winchester Discovery Centre.
